Security Plan for the Elegant Child Campus

All exterior doors to The Elegant Child Campus are securely locked with key code accessibility only.

Disaster Procedures:
Fire drills every month with an actual alarm sound.
Fire extinguishers checked every year by the fire department.

Tornado and earthquake drills every 3 months.
There are first aid kits and flashlights in every room.
NOAA radio at the front desk.

Evacuation Fire Procedures:
There are evacuation instructions and maps in every room.
Children are evacuated out of each building in under one minute. Teachers have attendance charts, emergency cards, and safety cards for evacuations. Children are taken to a safe pre-designated area. Attendance is checked by an administrator before re-entering the buildings.

Keep away from windows and ceiling fans
Go into inner hallway, inner room or closet and cover heads (use blankets, if accessible). Shelter position, in each classroom, has been review by Chief Inspector for Emergency Management, St. Louis Police Department.

Additional Information:
At least one teacher in every classroom is certified in First Aid and CPR.

Each classroom telephone dials 911 and poison control, in case of an emergency.

All playgrounds are securely fenced and monitored.

Two nurses are on staff daily.
