Meet Our Staff

An experienced and educated staff will be there to foster and develop your child’s self confidence, socialization, and academic knowledge. Our teachers are contracted for a year at a time to assure your child of a familiar face, a constant presence and a positive routine. Many of the Elegant Child staff, 110 strong, has been employed here for more than five years. Our teachers will carefully develop, plan and implement lessons for the appropriate age group, even at the earliest stage.

We have a kitchen coordinator who plans fresh nutritious meals, which are prepared and served out of Sarah’s Café.

Inclusive of our education programs are Physical Education, Music, Spanish and Cooking class. Cooking classes are held in our kids cooking kitchen and in the children’s classrooms.

Classes are conducted once per week, with children six weeks through Kindergarten receiving Physical Education and Music. Spanish and Cooking will begin when children enter our two-year-old program.

We attribute our success to the dedicated staff at the Elegant Child. We are a collaboration of educated, bright, creative, enthusiastic and caring individuals, who all strive for a common theme: high early childhood education and the utmost in care for each and every child.

The Elegant Child has four nurses on staff to provide the best possible care for your children.

Deborah and Chip Rowland, Founders

Debbie and Chip Rowland are the parents of four children. Debbie has been an educator for twenty-six years and has her degree in Elementary and Special Education. She has taught in public as well as private schools and ran an early learning center in her home for four years. The waiting list for preschool in their home became so long that they decided to design a place much like their home, only on a much larger scale. The Elegant Child was created because they could not find an early childhood center suitable for their own children. The response has been overwhelmingly successful.

Kathy Wolfe, Director

Kathy is a 1983 graduate of Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood. She has worked in the Early Childhood field for approximately 30 plus years as a teacher, administrator and director.

Kathy was also the recipient of the Best Director Award for private preschools in Illinois, in 1998. Kathy is the mother of two young boys that are currently in attendance at the Elegant Child Early Learning Center where she directs the center.
